Confined Space Emergency Rescue Course

Course Reference Number: N.A

Course Objectives

To equip Emergency Response Team (ERT) with the Basic Rescue Skills to conduct Confined Space Rescue in relation to SCDF CERT and relevant approved code of practice from MOM. Participants will learn the use of the various rescue equipment during the course.

Who Should Attend

CERT and personnel who needs to work in confined spaces.

Be Advised

The participant is required to fill-up a Self-Assessment Checklist and Fitness Declaration Form (see Form A below). This form must be submitted to COSEM 2 weeks before the course commencement date.

Mode Of Assessment

  • 20 Multiple Choice Questions
  • Practical Assessment
  • No. of hours: 16 hours (1 hour: Assessment, 15 hours: classroom)

Prerequisites

Participants must have confined space working competency

PPE Requirements

Basic PPE (eg. Coveralls or Safety uniforms, Safety Gloves, Safety Helmets, and Goggles)

Course Content

  • List the five priorities for emergency rescue operations.
  • Explain the three types of confined space rescue.
  • Identify specific rescue situations requiring special consideration.
  • Explain anchor and rigging systems.
  • Describe basic hand signals used during confined space rescue operations.
  • Described basic rescue safety rules.

Regulations

This course is in compliance with SS568:2011 (Code of Practice for Confined Spaces) and Workplace Safety and Health (Confined Space) Regulations 2009.
