Working at Height Rescue Course
Course Objectives
To equip Emergency Response Team (ERT) with the Basic Rescue Skills to conduct Height Rescue in relation to relevant approved code of practice from MOM. Participants will learn the use of various height rescue equipment, tying of the various knots and the skills required to conduct height rescue.
Be Advised
The participants is required to fill-up a Self-Assessment Checklist and Fitness Declaration Form (see Form A below).
This form must be submitted to COSEM 2 weeks before the commencement date.

Mode Of Assessment
- 15 Multiple Choice Questions
- Practical Assessment
- No. of hours: 8 hours (1 hour: Assessment, 7 hours: Classroom)
Prerequisites
Participants should have MOM working at height certificates and preferably with working at height experience.
PPE Requirements
Basic PPE (e.g. Coveralls or Safety uniforms, Safety Gloves, Safety Helmets, and Goggles.)
Course Content
- Learn the use of height rescue equipment
- Learn the tying of various knots for height rescue
- Learn to perform rope rescue activities to recover fallen or incapacitated worker(s)
- Learn the safe use and inspection of equipment used for vertical rope rescue activities.
- Learn the rope rescue techniques, anchor selection, rigging mechanical advantage and stretcher operations involved with rope rescue activities.
- Acquire the knowledge and skills required for risk assessment and casualty management involved with all rope rescue activities.
Regulations
This Course is in compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (Work at Height) Regulations 2013.
